During the summer, Europe is not so far from Africa. An excellent excuse to visit it? The electronic music festivals, especially in the Mediterranean area, including Spain, France, Italy, Croatia  and Cyprus. Of course, we shouldn’t forget about key events like Exit in Serbia and Tomorrowland in Belgium. Here are ten festivals not to be missed this summer. Where, when, and, most importantly, with which DJs.

where: Novi Sad, Serbia
For over 20 years, EXIT has become a global phenomenon, a gathering point for international media and the most prominent artists in the field. It has gained reputation through a series of night and morning sets and performances. Its Dance Arena is much more than a stage: it is an exemplar, a model to follow, an authentic temple of electronic music. This year, the fortress of Novi Sad will shine like never before for an edition of Exit that promises to be among the best ever.

Social Music City is increasingly on the move. The festival, which lasts the entire summer, lands in Jesolo for the first time and returns to Rimini, confirming itself once again as an unmissable event for electronic music enthusiasts and fans of the world’s top DJs, who have always been the main protagonists at every Social Music City event. In total, there are three dates in the two most important Italian seaside resorts when it comes to (also) musical Mediterranean tourism.

where: Boom, Belgium
Over 600 artists will perform on the 14 stages of the 17th edition of Tomorrowland, the Belgian festival scheduled in Boom during the last two weekends of July. As always, Tomorrowland is careful to offer a balanced mix of all genres of electronic music. House and techno, for example, will have their well-deserved and appropriate spaces. Additionally, the contingent of Brazilian artists is particularly substantial, thanks to the presence of Alok, Carola, Cat Dealers, Öwnboss, Vintage Culture. It’s a kind of preview and tribute to Tomorrowland Brazil, which will take place from October 12th to 14th in São Paulo.

On Saturday, July 29th, the quintessential European desert festival celebrates its 30th edition, returning to Fraga in Aragon, where it all began. Monegros boasts impressive numbers for this edition: 11 stages, over 100 artists in the lineup, and over 50,000 expected attendees. All of this for 22 consecutive hours of music, featuring unprecedented stage setups, scenography, visuals, and many other special effects. The musical offering proudly showcases the best of electronic music genres: techno, house, drum and bass, and even hip-hop, with the presence of the legendary Wu-Tang Clan collective.

Once again this year, Les Plages Électroniques offers an impressive lineup of great headliners, cutting-edge artists, French rap stars, electronic music titans, live performances, and DJ sets. All of this takes place in a unique setting provided by the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, with the addition of a new outdoor stage and new indoor spaces. To support emerging artists, the Riffx Competition will also be held this year, allowing the selection of new talents who will have the opportunity to perform at Les Plages Électroniques.

After its successful debut last year, Family Piknik returns once again to Frontignan, a coastal town overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and easily accessible by train from Montpellier. It is an elegant city that offers many options: 7 kilometers of beaches, opportunities for water sports, excellent local wine, oysters, and high-quality food. Most importantly, it presents a high-quality festival featuring the best talents in house, techno, and deep music. Among the new features this year is the Family Camp, an excellent solution to fully experience the festival.

After its inaugural edition last year, Panorama Festival is experiencing exponential growth and becoming an itinerant event, involving three locations between Valle d’Itria and Salento: the Bylla Monopoli Arena, the Salento Arena in Santa Cesarea Terme (the concert area of Guendalina Club, Italy’s number one venue according to DJ Mag’s Top 100 Clubs), and Macramè in Monopoli. This year, Panorama Festival is accompanied by the slogan “August Around Apulia” and offers a unique experience that combines the magic of electronic music with the pristine beauty of the surrounding areas.

The best of electronic music returns to Florence thanks to Decibel Open Air, following the sold-out recent Easter Edition and the successful 2022 edition, which brought over 50,000 people to the Tuscan capital, with 30% of them coming from abroad. The Italian and international growth of Decibel Open Air is set to strengthen further, thanks to a series of confirmations and exciting innovations. Among the latter, there is a new location spanning over 100,000 square meters, more accessible and capable of improving services and logistics.

BEONIX Music Festival
