Paris-based ascending artist Ghenda teams up with Nigerian Afro-R&B vocalist Jujuboy on “Shakira”, the second single from SubLife Records’ forthcoming debut album “KALI”.


Following the momentum of OVER”, the track blends afro-house, reggaeton and bass-driven club energy into a sensual, feverish sound designed for global dancefloors. Known for his futuristic approach to electronic music and collaborations with major artists such as Aya Nakamura, SDM and Florent Pagny, Ghenda continues to push the boundaries of contemporary club culture while staying rooted in Black musical heritage. In this interview, he opens up about his influences, favourite tracks, and the vision behind the SubLife project. This face to face is all about Ghenda.

Who inspired you to become a DJ?
I’ve been inspired by DJ Cut Killer, DJ Drama and David Guetta.

What kind of music did you listen to when you were a teenager?
I used to listen to hip hop and house music.

And now?
Still the same.

Which platform(s) do you use to listen to music?
I use Spotify.

Why is Africa becoming so important in the electronic music scene?
Black and African music has always been the root of many genres. Today it’s only natural to hear those influences in electronic music. House and electronic music actually come from Black communities in Chicago in the late ’70s.

Your favourite DJs and producers?
As DJs, I’d say RL Grime. I saw him perform in Vegas at L’Intrigue Club and was impressed by how he blends hip hop, house and electro.
As producers, I have many favourites: Timbaland, Scott Storch, Pharrell Williams and Kanye West.

Your favourite clubs and festivals?
Les Plages Électroniques in Cannes. We played there with SubLife and it was such a special moment.

The most important record in your box?
I’d say “THETA”by SubLife — one of my favourite tracks from our upcoming album.

Your all-time favourite track?
“Breathe” by Télépopmusik.

How can people send you promos?
DMs, inboxes, street marketing — and we also have a marketing team working on it.

Your favourites (food / TV show)?
Food: carbonara, pasta, tv show: The Wire.

Your hobbies?
Football.

Your upcoming projects?
The SubLife album KALI is coming soon, plus many remixes and new songs from myself.

Your lifelong dream?
I’m already living it.
