Who and who inspired you to become a DJ?
What inspired me to become a DJ was my upbringing in South Africa, surrounded by music. A radio station called YFM played a lot of international house music and DJ mixes. That exposure helped build big names in our industry and shaped my love for music. From there, I started listening, practicing, and developing my craft.
Which kind of music did you listen to when you were a teenager?
I listened to house music from around the world. Back then, South Africa didn’t produce much of its own music, so we imported a lot. DJs on YFM, like DJ Fresh, Mosquito, Glen Lewis, and Vinny Da Vinci, put out compilations that educated us about the scene. Later, local producers like Black Coffee started creating their own music, paving the way for today’s sound.
And now?
Nowadays, I also listen to R&B and jazz. It helps me to understand song arrangements and gives me new perspectives outside electronic music, which often inspires my own work.
Which platform do you use to listen to music?
I have subscriptions to almost all major platforms: Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music. I just stream everything that’s available.
Why is Africa becoming so important in the electronic music scene?
Africa brings a unique vibe, emotion, and approach to music. Our drum patterns and rhythms feel different, which draws people in. The music has its own feeling that resonates globally.
Your favorite DJs and producers?
I admire many artists, including Black Coffee, Arodes, Martin Lu, Andrea Oliva and many others. They are creating amazing music and live experiences.
Your favorite clubs and festivals?
Globally, I enjoy different festivals for various experiences. Some highlights include Kappa Festival in Italy, Horse Park in Switzerland, Tomorrowland, Ultra Miami, and all the events during Miami Music Week.
The most important record in your box?
The most important record for me is “Fire Fire” (2025). It pushed me to a new level and shaped my vision. It’s also my all-time favorite track because of the memories and milestones attached to it.
How to send you promos?
Most promos come through Inflyte. Artists can add my email there to share their tracks.
Your favorites: food / actor / football team / TV series?
Food: meat. Actor: Jason Statham. Football team: Orlando Pirates (South Africa). TV series: I honestly don’t watch much TV.
Your hobbies?
Playing PlayStation and watching TV.
Your upcoming projects?
I’m working on a lot of new music. I also have several releases lined up before dropping my album.
Your lifelong dream?
My lifelong dream is to share as much as I can through my experiences – not just music – but everything I learn on the road.
