October 2025: Burning Man Project announced the 2026 Burning Man theme: “Axis Mundi”. The 2026 theme is an invitation to participate, connect, and live the shared ethos of Burning Man, including in Black Rock City 2026 and all around the world. In an increasingly divided world, Burning Man uplifts humanity and brings people together through its creative culture.

The Burning Man annual theme provides inspiration for everything from applications to the 2026 Honoraria Art Grant program and 2026 Temple and Man designs, to mutant vehicle plans, costume creations, and theme camp activations.

“In our increasingly divided and divisive world, Burning Man is a powerful unifying force – said Stuart Mangrum of Burning Man’s Philosophical Center, author of the theme – Axis Mundi reflects that, and celebrates the ways we are creating a new social reality fueled by creativity, generosity, inclusivity, and everything else that’s implicit in our principles”.

2026 Axis Mundi theme excerpt: If Burning Man can be said to have meaning in this fractured world, it is to remind us through our collective actions that we are not alone, that we are part of something larger. Every day, on every continent, people are coming together to experience forms of creativity, generosity, and togetherness that are our birthrights as members of the human family.
